A holy place for Buddhists, the Japanese temple was built in the finest Japanese style architecture.

It is an elegant two-storey structure which fits perfectly with the lush landscapes of Darjeeling hill-station. Established by Fuji Guruji, this temple is also known as Nippozan Myohoji Buddhist Temple.

Witnessing the temple!

The white-coloured Japanese Temple building looks simple in its surroundings. You can climb up a few stairs to reach the entrance. The two statues of Golden Lions will welcome you to explore the temple.

As you enter, you will find a picture of Guruji with a model. Walking up the wooden stairs you will reach the large prayer room situated upstairs. If you are lucky enough, then you can witness the present Guruji offering prayers. You can see them beating the drums from which the sound and the chants fill the atmosphere.

  • While exiting, you will be offered small sweet balls

Now, you can head towards Peace Pagoda. It is a Buddhist stupa which holds the popular sculptures of Lord Buddha. With four statues of Buddha, this pagoda depicts his different forms. The white structure of the pagoda stands for equality, world peace, and non-violence.
